Our Story
Dad Bod Triathlon Club started with a simple conversation between my dad and me about doing a triathlon together.
One day he texted me and casually mentioned that he had actually signed up.
Just like that, the clock started ticking. I had four months to prepare for my first sprint triathlon.
I grew up as a competitive swimmer, and as a Marine Corps veteran I’ve always looked for the next challenge - physically and mentally. As an adult, I found myself searching for something that would push me again.
In 2025, I completed my first sprint triathlon. Not long after that, I joined Team Zoot and started racing with their team.
From the moment that race ended, I was hooked.
Afterward, my dad and I sat around talking about how good it felt — pushing yourself, feeling that post-race high, and sitting down afterward with a cold beer to relive the day.
Looking around at the race, I realized something.
Sure, there were elite athletes there. But there were also everyday people - parents, workers, former athletes, beginners - all showing up and giving it their best effort.
And it hit me:
You don’t have to look perfect to do hard things.
Sometimes you can have a dad bod.
That’s when Dad Bod Triathlon Club was born.
At first, it was just a fun idea. A few jokes, relatable posts, and content about training and life. But over time it started becoming something more.
It became about becoming better for my family and for my daughter - because most of life is caught, not taught.
She started watching me more.
She started wanting to “run like daddy.”
And that’s when I realized this wasn’t just about racing anymore.
Dad Bod Triathlon Club is about improving yourself in whatever way you can.
Sometimes that’s a 5 AM workout.
Sometimes it’s a 9 PM one after the house is quiet.
You do what you can with the time you have.
You enjoy the process.
You stay healthy for your family.
And along the way, you enjoy a nice cold one too.
Now we’re working to grow DBTC into something bigger than merch.
A real community.
An open place where people can come together for swims, runs, bike rides, workouts, races, and conversations afterward over a beer or coffee.
Community first.
Progress together.
In 2026, I’ll continue racing with Team Zoot while building local partnerships and sponsors to help grow awareness and strengthen the culture behind this idea.
Because DBTC is for the dads who feel buried under the pressure of perfection that social media pushes every day.
That’s not us.
We’re not about perfection.
We’re about real life.
Family first.
Finding the time.
Putting in the work.
Not every race is perfect - and neither are we as dads.
But what we do when everyone else is asleep is what helps us become better men, better fathers, and better examples.
Tri hard.
Dad harder.
Dad Bod Triathlon Club is here with the dads and for the dads.
Thanks for being part of the ride.
Or the run.
Or the swim.
Cheers.
